Jugla industrialised early and in waves: a sugar manufactory in 1812, the first linen-weaving manufactory at Strazdumuiža in 1827, a paper mill at Juglas muiža in 1859, the Valkanda match factory in 1873, and the Merkurijs barrel works and Glover chemical factory in 1899. The twentieth century added the two big textile names — Juglas manufaktūra on Mārkalnes iela from 1911, employing up to 600, and Rīgas audums from 1925, with 1,600 workers by 1938.

Today Jugla is primarily a residential lake district of 21,973 people, and the honest way to describe its industrial market is: pockets, not corridors. Brīvības gatve 445 is a closed industrial territory with office-warehouse units at €3.00–5.00. Ūdeļu iela 18 lets 124 m² with 6.5 m ceilings and a concrete floor at €5.00.

One warning that saves tenants a wasted viewing: the large industrial complex advertised at Brīvības gatve 900 is filed under Jugla on ss.lv, but it is physically in Berģi, outside Rīga — the listing's own text says so. It does not appear in this guide.

Rents run €3.00–5.00 per m² per month, which brackets neatly between worn Soviet stock elsewhere and Rīga's ~€5.50 ceiling.

Brīvības gatve is the artery — Jugla's industrial addresses either sit on it (386, 445) or just off it. The Juglas pārvads overpass was built specifically to relieve congestion on Brīvības, and it matters for trucks heading to the A2 (Vidzemes šoseja) out of the city. The tram reached Šmerlis across the Gaisa tilts in 1906 and Jugla proper in 1914 — the district has had rail-based transit for over a century, which matters for shift workers. No freight rail station serves the district. apkaimes.lv publishes no bus or tram route numbers for Jugla, so none are quoted here.
